| Rightfully dubbed the King of Sport fish the Atlantic Salmon has tested the talents, challenged the tackle, and tried the patience of even the most proficient fly fisherman. Ardent salmon anglers know that to be truly successful one must maximize opportunities by learning their peculiar habits, run times, favorite lies, and techniques to "tease" them to the fly. Only by applying this knowledge when planning an Atlantic Salmon adventure is the balance of success tipped in favor of the angler. This magnificent species is not also called "The fish of a thousand casts" for nothing!
At Where-Ya-Wannabee Outfitting Lodge, we have a unique but very effective approach for maximizing the opportunities for our Atlantic Salmon anglers. Instead of focusing on a section of an individual river system as traditionally Lodge operators do, we target up to fifteen (15) prominent river systems to supply a season length period of fun filled excitement. Each individual river system is of course unique in its own way and accordingly each has different angling opportunities to offer.  Some rivers for example have very early runs of predominantly 8-16lb salmon followed shortly thereafter by good runs of 4lb-6lb grilse; others have later runs of a mixture of both. Some are relatively small, easily fished streams with prolific number of grilse; others are large, challenging rivers with nice grilse and world class trophies (e.g. Lower Humber River up to 40lbs in recent years). Heavy rains of periods of drought may spell disaster to the angler relying on the success of an individual river system. With a large number of rivers the likelihood of these adverse conditions affecting all at the same time in such a detrimental manner is extremely remote. For these and many other reasons our MULTI-RIVER SAFARIS will expose our guests to a dynamic range of opportunities that few can match.Atlantic Salmon enthusiasts will enjoy their stay in the comfortable and tranquil environment of the main lodge. A unique menu including lobster, salmon, and filet mignon as well as a twist of traditional local cuisine such as "fish 'n brewis" and toutons will tempt the palate of our patrons. The luxurious amenities of our lodge, including hot/cold water, four piece bathroom, modern kitchen/dining facilities, large stone fireplace and a cozy loft will ensure their comfort. The strategic location of this site in proximity to the rivers we target for MULTI-RIVER SAFARIS enables ready access to prime angling locations while our anxious anglers are finishing their morning coffee. A side benefit to this travel is the exposure one gets to the many unique scenic marvels the Western portion of our beautiful province has to offer. While on the river our friendly and experienced guides will assist you with your every need. They can provide advice on everything from fly selection, casting techniques and "reading the water" to enhance your chances of enticing the salmon to your fly. Outdoor cooking and photographing your experience for posterity are also among their specialties. |
